Klein becomes concussion replacement

Dieter Klein has become a concussion replacement for Leicestershire CCC on the first day of the Specsavers County Championship game against Kent CCC.

Zak Chappell was struck on the helmet during the afternoon session and had to retire hurt on 31 at the Fischer County Ground.

Chappell left the field alongside Leicestershire CCC Head Physio Will Garvey, and the club informed Cricket Liaison Officer Richard Ellison of their intention to withdraw Chappell from the game.

The new ECB regulations were introduced ahead of the 2018 season and allow a like for like replacement who can bat and bowl in the game.

Klein, who was Leicestershire CCC’s twelfth man for the game following an injury to Neil Dexter, will therefore take Chappell’s place for the rest of the match.

Update - 20.08.2018

Zak Chappell is at the ground this morning, he is feeling better and thanks everybody for their messages on social media.
