Leicestershire CCC announced the signing of high-quality seam bowler Chris Wright in July 2018.
Wright was a part of a Warwickshire CCC attack that claimed every bowling point available during their Specsavers County Championship Division Two title win in the summer of 2018. He linked up with his new teammates at the end of the 2018 season.
The seamer has taken an impressive 619 wickets in his professional career, including 464 first-class wickets at an average of 32.96 in 164 appearances.
Wright has claimed 13 five-wicket hauls in the first-class game including a best of 6 for 22, and is also a handy batsman, contributing 72 as a nightwatchman against Derbyshire CCC in the 2018 season to go alongside a previous career-best score of 77.
He has performed well in white ball competitions, collecting 102 List A wickets at 36.92 and also snaring 53 T20 victims at 34.60 apiece. Wright’s career has taken in spells at Essex CCC and Middlesex CCC, and the bowler has also had call-ups to England Lions and the England Performance Programme.
Wright signed an initial two-year contract at the Uptonsteel County Ground to take him through until at least the end of the 2020 season.
As the experienced bowler of the Running Foxes' attack, Wright showed his importance immediately, claiming the first Leicestershire wicket of the 2019 season in the victory away at Hove against Sussex CCC.
He missed the majority of the shortened 2020 season through injury, but will come back in to the set-up at Leicestershire as part of a largely young bowling attack.
