Leicestershire secured the signing of experienced opening batsman Paul Horton from Lancashire in September 2015.

Horton passed the 10,000 run mark in first-class cricket during the 2016 season and also claimed his first wickets in both the Specsavers County Championship and Royal London One-Day Cup.

The 35-year-old Horton has registered 65 half-centuries and 23 hundreds with a career best score of 209 in first-class cricket.

His measured batting at the top of the order has provided a steadying influence to Leicestershire over the last three seasons.

Horton has also scored 2,953 List A runs with a highest score of 111 not out at an average of 29.82.

His spell as captain of Lancashire included leading them to the T20 Blast Final in 2014. Horton has so far made 1,477 runs in that format of the game with a strike rate of just under 109.

Horton averaged 28.28 in the 2018 Specsavers County Championship with a high score of 88. He made a century in the impressive Royal London One-Day Cup win at Northants Steelbacks, and was name as Club Captain during the season.
