Raine extends stay at Grace Road
Leicestershire CCC is delighted to announce that all-rounder Ben Raine has signed a two-year extension to his contract at Grace Road.
The highly promising 23-year-old has impressed with both bat and ball in the Leicestershire first team since joining from his native Durham, breaking into the side in all three competitions.
Raine’s deal was due to expire at the end of the summer but the new contract will keep him at the club until at least the end of the 2017 season.
The all-rounder has a highest first-class score of 72 against Lancashire and a best bowling performance of 4-98 versus Glamorgan. Raine was the Foxes’ second leading wicket-taker last season, claiming 15 victims at an average of just 17.93 while maintaining an economy rate below 7.5 an over.
He said: “These are exciting times at Leicestershire County Cricket Club and the club is in a great place with Wasim Khan as Chief Executive and Andrew McDonald as Head Coach.
“It’s nice to be able to start the season knowing that people are backing you. The environment is a great one to develop in with Andrew working with Ben Smith, Lloyd Tennant and all of the backroom staff.”
Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket Chief Executive Wasim Khan MBE said: “Ben is a young all-rounder with lots of talent and potential and we are really pleased that he has extended his contract with us.
“We feel that Ben has a really bright future in the game and it’s further good news for the club after Atif Sheikh, Aadil Ali and Lewis Hill all committed their futures to us recently.”
