Sheikh claims hat-trick in seven-for
There were a number of excellent performances from Leicestershire players in the Everards Premier League at the weekend, including Atif Sheikh.
The left arm seamer took a hat-trick in returning superb figures of 7-36 for Rothley Park against Market Harborough with all seven wickets coming in a five-over period.
It wasn’t enough to secure victory as Harborough posted 142 and Rothley were dismissed for 123, off-spinner Mike Pozerskis also wreaking havoc by taking 6-11.
Lewis Hill scored a sparkling 107 as Lutterworth claimed a losing draw at Kibworth. The hosts scored 236-9 and Lutterworth, who were well-placed with Matt Pickering (39) and Hill taking the score to 104-1, ultimately closed on 219-9 in reply.
Foxes duo Rob Sayer (62) and Jayshal Chauhan (57) scored half-centuries in Barrow’s 274-5 while Chauhan’s Academy teammate Leo Cammish hit 66 as Earl Shilton hung on for a draw.
Seamers Sam Grant and Rob McKinley shared nine wickets as Loughborough Town landed a five-wicket win against Leicester Ivanhoe. Dips Patel ended on 37 not out for Loughborough.
There was a run-fest at Barkby as former Leicestershire player Matthew Boyce scored 132 in a total of 286-8 - but Syston overhauled it in stunning fashion.
The visitors had a solid start before a brilliant unbroken sixth wicket stand of 113 in just 11 overs was formed between former Academy players Charles Wootton (101*) and Charlie Taylor (60*).
Sileby Town were the third winners by a five-wicket margin against Hinckley Town/CCA. A half-century from captain Liam Kinch, once of Leicestershire’s Academy, was a key contribution for the home side.
