Butchart & Mike scoop Academy awards

Academy duo Ben Mike and Don Butchart were among the award winners as Leicestershire CCC held their Leicestershire Young Cricketers and Academy Awards Night in the Charles Palmer Suite on Sunday.

The evening, which was held in conjunction with sponsors Friends of Grace Road, was extremely well-attended. Chief Executive Wasim Khan MBE and Head Coach Paul Nixon presented the players with their trophies.

Butchart, who scored 547 runs at an average of almost 50 while also taking 29 wickets at 22.40, won both the award for batting and bowling in the Academy.

Mike burst on to the First XI scene by taking 19 wickets in his first four first-class matches after being awarded with his first professional contract, and was named as the Coaches’ Player of the Year.
