FoGR hold successful Autumn Fayre

The Friends of Grace Road enjoyed another successful Autumn Fayre, an event that was enjoyed by the local community.

More than 40 stallholders offered their goods in the Charles Palmer Suite and visitors were able to purchase ideal Christmas gifts and spend a very enjoyable few hours in warm and comfortable surroundings.

The famous Friends of Grace Road cake, teas and coffees, usually on sale in the Meet on matchdays, were available in the Fox Bar.

Special Guest Charlie Fox, fresh from winning the Vitality Blast Mascots Race on Finals Day at Edgbaston last month, opened the Fayre shortly before 10am. There was a good number of visitors throughout the day.

Friends of Grace Road Chairman Roy Bent said: “What a great day! We couldn’t have chosen a better celebrity to open the Fayre than Charlie Fox. He was magnificent with the children – they all loved him.

“Most stallholders have since written to say how much they enjoy coming to the Friends’ Autumn Craft Fayre, how well the event is organised and that the Grace Road facilities offer a perfect venue for such an event. Many have already booked their places for next year’s Autumn Fayre to be held on Saturday, October 26.”

A couple of Friends of Grace Road Events are being held in the coming weeks, starting with the first Members' Lunch of the 2018-19 programme on Friday (November 2).

Drinks will be available from 12 noon in the Fox Bar, and a delicious three-course meal will be held at 12.30pm in the Charles Palmer Suite alongside a fascinating talk from Foxes all-rounder Ben Mike and Academy Director Andy Siddall.

A starter of Vale of Belvoir Mushroom Cup filled with black pudding, smoked ham and vine tomato will be followed by pot roasted shank of lamb set on a mint and rosemary mash, with apple tarte tatin for dessert. The event represents great value at £18.95 per person.

The ever-popular FoGR Annual Quiz Night will take place on Friday, November 16, with teams of four invited to participate. The entry fee of £20 per team includes a delicious hot buffet.
