FoGR Winter Events 2018

The Friends of Grace Road are busy preparing for a number of events, including the first Members' lunch of 2018-19 which features a talk from Foxes all-rounder Ben Mike and Academy Director Andy Siddall.

Drinks will be available from 12 noon in the Fox Bar, and a delicious three-course meal will be held at 12.30pm in the Charles Palmer Suite on Friday, November 2.

A starter of Vale of Belvoir Mushroom Cup filled with black pudding, smoked ham and vine tomato will be followed by pot roasted shank of lamb set on a mint and rosemary mash, with apple tarte tatin for dessert.

The meal will be rounded off by coffee and red fox mints, and the event includes an insightful talk from Ben and Andy.

Ben enjoyed a brilliant start to his Foxes career, taking four nine wickets on his debut at Sussex CCC. The young all-rounder looked as though he had been part of the professional game for years, claiming a four-for in the first innings and going one better in the second.

All told, Ben took an impressive 19 wickets in his first four Specsavers County Championship matches and his batting also caught the eye, in particualr in the game against Warwickshire CCC, where he played well against England seamers Chris Woakes and Olly Stone.

Ben came through Leicestershire CCC's flourishing Academy set-up, which is led by Andy. He joined the club in May 2012 with a background in people development and over fifteen years coaching experience, including five years as Head Coach at Leeds Carnegie and coaching roles at Yorkshire CCC and Leeds Bradford MCCU.

He also has experience working abroad in South Africa, Sri Lanka and Australia. Andy now heads the Leicestershire CCC Academy with the responsibility of overseeing the personal and cricketing development of all the club’s young cricketers, hopefully to first class level as they move through the school, club and university cricketing environments.

The event represents great value at £18.95 per person and can be booked using the details below.

Before that event, the club will hold a Murder Mystery Event on Friday, October 19, and the FoGR Autumn Craft Fayre will run on Saturday, October 27 from 10am.

The ever-popular FoGR Annual Quiz Night will take place on Friday, November 16, with teams of four invited to participate. The entry fee of £20 includes a delicious hot buffet.
