CWC Trophy Tour
The ICC Cricket World Cup Trophy Tour arrives in Leicester this Sunday (April 21) at Cossington Recreation Ground.
The event will engage the local businesses, fan groups and the public to create an exciting schedule of cricket entertainment throughout the day as the countdown to the World Cup heightens.
Our Community team have got a fantastic day planned for the event, with a whole host of activities starting from 11am all the way through until 5pm.
The day will begin with an All Stars Cricket taster session between 11am–12 noon for all children aged 5 to 8 years old. Throughout the day there will be performances from the DMU Bollywood Dance Society and DNS Production Leicester.
There will also be a special performance of ‘Women in Cricket’, showing how a young Indian girl is supported by her family to achieve her dreams.
From 1pm–3pm you can register to be a part of a record breaking Bhangra/Bolly Flash Mob as part of the Bhangra Blaze take over. Across the park there will be lots of opportunities to take part in cricket activities, visit the various food stalls and the chance to have a picture taken with the ICC Cricket World Cup Trophy!
Leicestershire CCC Community Engagement Officer Amna Rafiq said: “The Trophy Tour is a great initiative to engage cricket fans across the globe and we are honoured to be hosting a day for the community just off the Golden Mile, an iconic location in Leicester.
"It’s a fantastic opportunity to bring people together from different cultures and backgrounds to celebrate cricket. I am incredibly excited to see the Women in Cricket Bollywood Performance as it challenges the barriers that Women around the globe face in sport.”
