Foxes name 13 for Durham trip

Leicestershire CCC take a short break from Vitality Blast to play their 11th Specsavers County Championship fixture of the season at Durham CCC.

Whereas the Foxes are in the top four in T20, the team has not enjoyed a great amount of fortune in red ball cricket, with a couple of victory bids held up because of poor weather.

Home games against Derbyshire CCC and tomorrow’s opponents also slipped from County’s grasp despite the bowlers excelling in the first innings.

With only four games to go, the Foxes will be looking for a victory at Emirates Riverside to move up a close Division Two table.

Only 16 points separate the five teams outside the top three, while a couple of wins for Leicestershire CCC could shoot them back into contention.

Captain Paul Horton and all-rounder Neil Dexter are in the squad after returning from injury alongside Hassan Azad and Muhammad Abbas, who have enjoyed excellent red ball campaigns.

Abbas had a magnificent game when the two sides met towards the back end of last season, claiming five wickets in each innings as Durham CCC were bowled out twice in a day.

Leading wicket-taker Chris Wright will be looking to continue his fine season while the other eight players in the squad have been Vitality Blast regulars.

It means there is from change from the squad that travelled to Gloucestershire CCC for the previous Specsavers County Championship game, with Dieter Klein coming in for Ben Mike.

With mouthwatering T20 home derbies to come this week against Notts Outlaws and Derbyshire Falcons, it is a huge seven days for the Foxes, who will be looking for a good start in the north-east.

The team faces a Durham CCC side who have familiar faces with the recently signed Angus Robson joining Ben Raine and Ned Eckersley in the squad.

The hosts will be without key batsman Cameron Bancroft, though, who is on Ashes duty with Australia, with Eckersley recently announced as Durham CCC's red ball captain for the rest of the season.

Leicestershire CCC (from 13): Horton (capt), Abbas, Ackermann, Azad, Cosgrove, Davis, Dearden, Dexter, Griffiths, Klein, Parkinson, Swindells (wk), Wright.
