REPORT | Leicestershire Second XI finished top of the north group in the Championship following a final day washout against Lancashire Second XI.

The seven points gained meant that the Foxes finished two appoints ahead of both Yorkshire Second XI and Nottinghamshire Second XI, and seven clear of the Red Rose County.

The Foxes were set to resume at 63 for two in their second innings but heavy rain arrived at Kibworth CC before play was due to start.

It was persistent and there was simply no chance of play when umpires Russell Warren and Dan Pedley abandoned the game after lunch.

Leicestershire Second XI are awaiting official confirmation of the arrangements for the SEC Final, which be a four-day game against Hampshire Second XI starting on Tuesday, September 3rd.
