2019 Second Team fixtures announced

Leicestershire Second XI begin the season with a string of one-day limited over fixtures - both friendlies and in the Trophy - before starting their Championship campaign at Nottinghamshire CCC on Wednesday, May 8.

Our first T20 fixture of the season comes halfway through June, and will be played away at Warwickshire CCC on Monday, June 17.

The one-day limited over fixture competition, which starts at Northamptonshire CCC on Monday, April 15, comes to a conclusion at the end of June, while T20 Finals Day is halfway through August.

Leicestershire Second XI’s final Championship game of the 2019 season is against Lancashire CCC on Monday, August 12.

Leicestershire CCC will play at a number of venues across the Midlands, including confirmed fixtures at Kibworth CC, Loughborough Town CC, Lutterworth CC and Rugby School. The final venue for the home game against Northamptonshire CCC will be confirmed shortly.

Second XI Coach Tom Smith said: “It is great to have a busy schedule for our Second XI, and we have a lot of exciting cricket to look forward to, both in competitions and friendlies.

“The schedules of the First XI and the Second XI are very alike, which helps the club. This means that we can have a few First XI squad members involved within our fixtures which will help the player to make the transition as smooth as possible.

“We have a number of local venues to visit as well as playing at the Fischer County Ground. We enjoyed travelling around the county last season and will again this season. It’s important that we look to take cricket across the region and make cricket as accessible as possible.”
