REPORT | The opening Vitality Blast match between Leicestershire Foxes and Lancashire Lightning was abandoned without a ball bowled.

Although conditions relented at the Fischer County Ground in order for there to be a toss at 6.10pm, which Colin Ackermann won and elected to bowl, the weather soon closed in again.

Umpires Mike Burns and Ben Debenham monitored conditions throughout but although the rain stopped for a brief period, more arrived – and it was even heavier this time.

It meant that the two teams had to settle for a point apiece and the Foxes will move on to the next game against Birmingham Bears at Edgbaston on Sunday.
