Foxes awarded Brian Johnston Memorial Trust scholarships

Leicestershire CCC are very happy to announce that four of the Club’s Academy players have been awarded scholarships by the Brian Johnston Memorial Trust.

The charity was founded in 1995 with one of it's aims to offer promising young cricketers financial assistance to fulfil their potential at county level.

A great deal of players have benefited at LCCC over the years from the Trust and this year Academy members Jabari Darrell, Prahlad Odedra, Rehan Ahmed and Raheem Ahmed have added to that list.

Academy Director Andy Siddall said: “The Brian Johnston Memorial Trust has made a tremendous impact on our young cricketers since I have been at the Club and for many years prior.

"A lot of players had support with specialist spin bowling sessions funded by the trust each year and now it is great that these four Academy players have been awarded these scholarships.

"It is tough financially for our young players and their families to support their development as they can train with us up to five times per week in some cases and transport can be expensive. I’m sure it will help them a great deal.

"Last year, six players were assisted in raising some funds to tour Sri Lanka in October so we are very grateful for the continued support from the Brian Johnston Memorial Trust for our Academy.
