Abbas named in Foxes squad for Steelbacks visit

Leicestershire Foxes will be boosted by the availability of Muhammad Abbas for tomorrow’s visit of Northants Steelbacks (11am start).

The Pakistan star has named in the Foxes squad for the first time this season after arriving in the UK earlier this week.

Hard-hitting batsman George Munsey is also in the Royal London One-Day Cup squad for the first time having been registered ahead of the Pakistan game.

Munsey, a Scotland international, made one appearance for the Wantage Road based outfit against Australia in 2015. The left-hander scored 27 against an attack including Pat Cummins, Peter Siddle, Mitchell Marsh, Nathan Lyon, Shane Watson and Fawad Ahmed.

Batsmen Harry Swindells and Ateeq Javid are also in contention alongside all-rounder Tom Taylor.

The Royal London One-Day Cup game against the Steelbacks is the club’s designated Family Fun Day, and all tickets are £1 on the day, with lots of activities running throughout.

These include an animal show, face painting, arts and crafts, a bouncy castle, and the Foxes Den, which has lots of fun cricket activities.

Leicestershire Foxes (from 13): Ackermann (capt), Abbas, Cosgrove, Dearden, Hill (wk), Javid, Klein, Mike, Munsey, Parkinson, Swindells, Taylor, Wright.
