Lilley reflects on Pakistan tour

Leicestershire County Cricket Club allrounder Arron Lilley returned to the Fischer County Ground earlier this week in preparation for the upcoming 2020 season opener against Nottinghamshire CCC in April.

The former-Lancashire man was part of the MCC’s tour of Pakistan which saw the countries decade-long exile from hosting international cricket come to an end.

After returning to Leicestershire, Lilley said: “It was a great experience being out there with a couple of legends.

“I just want to give massive thanks to the MCC for involving me on the trip – it was brilliant.”

He continued: “I was expecting it to be a lot different to what it was.

“We were well looked after; the hospitality was brilliant, and we were kept very safe with people around to protect us all of the time.

“The whole place was basically on lock down, whether that was because of [Kumar] Sangakkara being there – not just for us lads”, he joked.

Lilley played in three of the four fixtures that took place in Lahore, opening the batting twice in the T20 format and coming in at seven in the solitary 50-over fixture.
