Club Statement 28.07.2020

Following the statement by the ECB, confirming that Blackfinch New Road, Worcester will be the host venue for Leicestershire CCC’s first match against Lancashire on August 1, Leicestershire CCC has released the below statement.

Leicestershire County Cricket Club can confirm that this fixture is now allocated as an away fixture for the club.

The revised schedule for Leicestershire is as follows;

Sat, August 1 – v Lancashire – Away – Blackfinch New Road

Sat, August 8 – v Derbyshire – Home – The Fischer County Ground

Sat, August 15 – v Durham – Home – The Fischer County Ground

Sat, August 22 – v Nottinghamshire – Home – The Fischer County Ground

Sun, Sep 6 – v Yorkshire – Away – Emerald Headingley

Chief Executive Officer, Sean Jarvis said: “The club met all of the protocols to safely stage the match at the Fischer County Ground, but based on the current local lockdown situation and hearing of Lancashire’s concerns a collective decision has been made for Lancashire to host the fixture at a neutral venue.

“Leicestershire will maintain our three allocated home fixtures as the Durham match will now be played at the Fischer County Ground.

“I’d like to thank all parties involved, including the local authorities to support the club in making the Fischer County Ground safe and secure to host first-class cricket.

“We look forward to hosting Derbyshire, Durham and Nottinghamshire at the Fischer County Ground for the Bob Willis Trophy.”

The fixtures are to be hosted behind closed doors where spectators will not be permitted entry, however the fixtures will be available to watch live via a video stream.

Leicestershire CCC will release more details about the stream closer to the fixture.
