Match Preview v Lancashire CCC
Leicestershire CCC head down to Blackfinch New Road, Worcester to kick off their condensed 2020 campaign as they take on 2019’s Division 2 champions Lancashire CCC in the Bob Willis Trophy.
The fixture was originally scheduled to take place in Leicestershire, but following discussions with Lancashire and the ECB, a decision was made to take it away from the Fischer County Ground which sees Leicestershire play as the away team.
The Foxes head into the fixture following a 2-day friendly against Nottinghamshire CCC which saw the first action of county cricket take place in 2020.
Hassan Azad restored some normality to the world with a cultured 69, followed impressively by Harry Dearden who fell three runs short of a Trent Bridge ton.
Exciting displays with the bat from Harry Swindells (47), Tom Taylor (30), Callum Parkinson (20), Dieter Klein (20) and Arron Lilley (27) then followed as they all retired out which left the Foxes 334 for six after their 90 overs.
Nottinghamshire then took to the crease on the second and final day of action as the momentum carried on through for Leicestershire as Tom Taylor took the first wicket of the day after only 3.5 overs.
Wickets fell throughout the day which saw Nottinghamshire bowled all out with Klein, Mike, Griffiths and Lilley all claiming two wickets each, and Taylor and Ackermann with the remaining two
The Foxes will be heading into the fixture with a new recruit, as Ben Slater joined the club earlier today on a 2-week loan deal from Nottinghamshire CCC. He is immediately available for selection and will travel to Worcestershire as part of the squad.
Leicestershire from 13: Hassan Azad, Ben Slater, Harry Dearden, Colin Ackermann (C), George Rhodes, Harry Swindells (wk), Tom Taylor, Ben Mike, Callum Parkinson, Arron Lilley, Dieter Klein, Will Davis, Chris Wright.
