Club Statement: First Team Return to Training

In light of the recent Government announcement regarding the extended COVID-19 measures in Leicester City and surrounding areas, Leicestershire County Cricket Club has been in contact with key stakeholders, including Leicester City Council and the ECB, to understand the impact on professional cricket at the club.

Following consultation with Leicester City Council and the ECB, Leicestershire County Cricket Club can confirm that the first team squad will return to individual training on Wednesday, July 1 at the Fischer County Ground. The players will begin the stage one return to training which will involve players training in one hour slots on a one-to-one basis with a coach.

The Fischer County Ground has been extensively cleaned with the very latest regulations and procedures put in place to ensure the safety of players and staff whilst at the ground. The Fischer County Ground will remain closed to the public and will only allow for a limited number of personnel to be on-site at any time.

Leicestershire County Cricket Club has always and will continue to place the safety of staff and players at the forefront of our decisions. The club would like to thank Leicester City Council and the ECB for their support and will continue to undertake and consult them for advice and guidance.
