Club Statement: AGM 2020

Leicestershire County Cricket Club has announced that the AGM will go ahead in the Charles Palmer Suite at the Fischer County Ground at 7pm on Thursday, March 26 with only essential formal business items to be covered.

Due to the widespread effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the club has decided to shorten the AGM to only include formal business - the election of Directors, approval of the minutes from 2019, receipt of the accounts and appointment of the club’s auditors.

There will be no oral reports or presentations from any of the club’s senior management team nor the Chairman, although questions will be answered.

Members who believe they may have any symptoms of the virus or think that they are at risk of catching it should NOT attend the meeting in the interest of minimising risk to others.

A second Members’ Forum of 2020 has been scheduled for Monday, April 27 where full presentations will take place

Leicestershire County Cricket Club Chairman Mehmooda Duke MBE DL said: “Given the nature and widespread effects of the coronavirus, the Board has deemed it necessary to shorten the Annual General Meeting to cover only essential formal matters.

“The health of our Members and staff is of paramount importance and we would therefore encourage those who fear they may have been affected by the virus or are at risk not to attend.

“We envisage that the meeting should last no longer than 30 minutes, with only formal agenda items addressed. Whilst we appreciate that this isn’t ideal, we feel in the present exceptional circumstances this is in the best interests of the Club and our Members.”

Leicestershire CCC is following its own governance procedures in relation to the AGM and government guidelines in relation to all visitors to the Fischer County Ground. The club appreciates that there may need to be changes to the plan because of the ongoing situation regarding COVID-19 coronavirus.
