Blast quarter-final details confirmed

Details of the Foxes’ Vitality Blast quarter-final have been confirmed, as we make the trip to Trent Bridge on Thursday, October 1, 2020 for the 6:05pm start live on Sky Sports.

The clash sees the East Midlands rivals face eachother for a third time in this season’s competition, with each club having won their home tie during the group stages.

The Foxes claimed passage through to the quarter-finals following a dramatic final day of group stage action in the Vitality Blast, having had three fixtures around the country go their way.

Leicestershire travelled to Emirates Old Trafford needing to claim victory over the already qualified Lancashire Lightning, and thanks to an impressive Foxes' sixteenth over bowled by skipper Colin Ackermann, they made sure that they held up their end of the bargain.

A last-ball victory over Somerset for Gloucestershire ticked another box, a comprehensive victory for Notts Outlaws over Durham ticked another box which left the Foxes needing a Northamptonshire Steelbacks victory over Birmingham Bears, which, with thanks to former-Fox Tom Taylor, came in the dying overs as Taylor lead his new team to victory.

This meant that Leicestershire qualified via a third-placed qualification spot due to their superior net run-rate over Birmingham Bears.

The Outlaws won the first battle of the two teams by five wickets when the sides met at Trent Bridge on Friday, September 4, before the Foxes replied with a four wicket victory over Notts’ at the Fischer County Ground to inflict their only white-ball defeat of the season.

The side which claims the spoils on Thursday, October 1, will progress to Finals Day at Edgbaston on Saturday, October 3.

Friday, October 2, will be available as a quarter-final reserve day if required.
