REPORT | The final day of 2020 Bob Willis Trophy action for Leicestershire got underway with captain Colin Ackermann (23*) and Arron Lilley (10*) at the crease, as the Running Foxes trailed by 50 runs.
A flurry of early wickets for Yorkshire in Leicestershire’s second innings put the White Rose in the driving seat with the partnership under pressure as day four gets underway.
Lilley only managed to add three further runs to his total before he looked to drive Coad through the off side but was comfortably caught by Fraine for 13.
This saw Ben Mike emerge from the pavilion to join his captain at the crease as Leicestershire sat on 84 for six.
Mike could not manage to make an impact, though, as he fell victim to Coad as well as the bowler pinned him infront for 1. This was Coad’s third wicket of the innings and eighth of the match.
Dieter Klein joined Ackermann at the crease and got off to a quick start after a thick outside edge off Coad for four off his first delivery.
Klein then went on to hit Olivier for multiple boundaries in the 36th over as the partnership began to chew up the remaining deficit.
The partnership eradicated the Yorkshire lead as Ackermann pulled Olivier into the leg side for a single as Ackermann sat on 42* and Klein 25*.
The wickets of Klein (27) and Ackermann (47) fell in quick succession as Thompson caught Klein off Olivier first, followed by Thompson smashing Ackermann’s off pole.
Both wickets fell as Leicestershire wiped out Yorkshire’s lead, but now the Running Foxes found themselves on their last wicket partnership of Gavin Griffiths and Alex Evans on 139 for nine – leading by 11.
Evans came in and hit Fisher for three fours in the fiftieth over to enter double figures for the first time in his first-class career, surpass his current best of 7* and also bring up the Leicestershire 150.
The Leicestershire innings was soon brought to an end, though, with the wicket of Evans (15), bowled by Thompson who claimed his maiden career five-fer.
Leicestershire finished their second innings on 161, leading Yorkshire by 33.Dieter Klein opened the Leicestershire attack with a maiden, with Yorkshire taking four off their second over of the second innings as lunch came with the home side sitting on 4 without loss, trailing by 30.
The afternoon session only lasted 4.2 overs before the opening partnership of Lyth (14*) and Kohler-Cadmore (23*) had posted the 34 runs needed to claim the win for Yorkshire.
